Gastrointestinal
Mentor Clinic
What is the Gastrointestinal (GI) Mentor Clinic?
Drs. Cameron Craw and Steven Sandberg-Lewis supervise the GI Mentor Rotation which is staffed by naturopathic students who have shown a special interest in gastroenterology and have taken advanced training at NUNM (National University of Natural Medicine).
During an initial visit, a student will take a detailed history and perform a physical examination on each new patient. The students then confer with the supervising physicians.
All final decisions for diagnosis, treatment and further testing are made by Dr. Steven Sandberg-Lewis and Dr. Craw. Since several patients are seen per hour, and the doctors’ direct participation is limited, we are able to offer comprehensive naturopathic care at a much more affordable rate to the community.
New patient visits will be scheduled for two hours. Return patient visits, also performed by students, will be scheduled for one hour.
Patients on the GI Mentor Shift are contributing to the training of future physicians with a focus on naturopathic gastroenterology. Thank you.
**Shifts are every Tuesday afternoon, by appointment only**
